MLS Superdraft 2012: Claret and Cobalt look to bolster squad

Real Salt Lake have selected Enzo Martinez with their first pick in the MLS Superdraft. Enzo Martinez, a midfielder on a Generation Adidas contract, comes from the University of North Carolina.

In immediate reaction on ESPN, pundits said he was a good fit for the club — and on Twitter, many were surprised that he dropped as far as he did in the draft.

At No. 24, the club selected Diogo de Almeida, a Brazil-born full back from Southern Methodist University.

At. No. 36, the club selected Sebastian Velasquez, a sophomore midfielder from Spartanburg Methodist College in South Carolina.

In the first two rounds of the draft, the Claret and Cobalt pick 17th, 24th and 36th. They also pick 6th, 17th, and 36th in the Supplemental Draft, which will take place on Jan. 17.
